UNITED NATIONS DECLARED JAMAAT-UD-DAWA AS TERRORIST ORGANISATION

UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations Security Council has placed sanctions against Pakistan-based Jamaat-ud-Dawa, a front organization for
Lashkar-e-Taiba, declaring it a terrorist organization.

The Council panel has designated four men linked to the Mumbai attacks as terrorists subject to sanctions.

The four men are believed to hold leadership positions in the banned Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba that is accused of orchestrating last month's attacks that left over 180 dead in Mumbai.

Designated as terrorists subject to UN sanctions were Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, Lashkar's operations chief; Muhammad Saeed, the group's leader; Haji Muhammad Ashraf, its chief of finance; and Mahmoud Mohammad Ahmed Bahaziq, a financier with the group.

The Security Council's al-Qaida and Taliban sanctions committee added them to its list of terrorists subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo under a council resolution adopted this year.

The US Treasury Department last week designated the men as terrorists and ordered any US assets frozen.

Earlier on Wednesday, in what is being read as the first sign of Pakistan wilting in the face of growing international pressure, Islamabad had said that it will ban Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) “the political arm of Lashkar-e-Taiba, which has been recruiting fidayeen killers like the captured terrorist Ajmal” if the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) declared JUD a terrorist outfit.

It's learnt the UNSC has already initiated the necessary steps to ban JUD and tighten the screws on its chief Hafiz Saeed, regarded as a key man behind the Mumbai carnage, who is wanted by India as a criminal terrorist. A Saeed-specific ban is also a certainty, said government sources.

Pakistan, which had denied the complicity of Lashkar in Mumbai attacks, had to make the statement about banning JUD at the UNSC because of the near-unanimity in the Security Council about JUD's involvement in terrorism. The UNSC move marked a global concert against Pakistan because of its failure to carry out its repeated pledges to India and others to crack down on terrorist camps.

``After the designation of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JUD) under resolution 1267, the government on receiving communication from the Security Council shall proscribe the JUD and take other consequential actions, as required, including the freezing of assets,'' said Abdullah Hussain Haroon, Pakistan's permanent representative in the UN. Sources said that he gave an undertaking to the same effect to the world body on Tuesday.

Indian officials seemed satisfied with the impending ban on JUD by Pakistan.

Haroon also said that no LeT camp would be allowed to operate from Pakistan. Pakistan's NSA Mahmud Ali Durrani had reiterated on Wednesday that his country would follow all UN resolutions. ``We will follow any UN resolution. There should be no doubt. If our investigations prove the involvement of any organisation in Pakistan, we will definitely ban it,'' Durrani told a news channel.

Meanwhile, Pakistan PM Yousaf Raza Gilani confirmed on Wednesday that police had detained Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and Zarrar Shah, the two members of LeT whom India has blamed for the attacks in Mumbai. He said that the allegations against them are being looked into.

Josh Koscheck Josh Koscheck Vs Yoshiyuki Koscheck Wins At UFC Fight For The Troops

Welterweight Josh Koscheck knocked out Japan's Yoshiyuki Yoshida with a pair of sledgehammer-like punches two minutes 15 seconds into the first round of the UFC's "Fight for the Troops" fundraising card Wednesday night.

Yoshida was staggered by the first straight right hand, falling into the fence. As he bounced back up, Koscheck crunched the defenceless fighter with a huge looping right.

"If that wasn't worth five bucks from every UFC fan, I don't know what else I can do," said Koscheck, a former four-time All-American collegiate wrestler.

The mixed martial arts card at the Crown Coliseum, home to the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League, was organized to raise funds for a US$65-million centre for traumatic brain injuries for the U.S. military, and the stands were filled with thousands of soldiers from nearby Fort Bragg wearing camouflage UFC shirts.

Koscheck (14-3) was coming off a short turnaround, stepping up on short notice to replace the injured Diego Sanchez at UFC 90 on Oct. 25 when he lost a decision to Thiago Alves. A fourth-degree judo black belt, Yoshida (10-3) came in on a nine-fight win streak.

In the co-main event, Mike (Quick) Swick administered a fast, comprehensive beating to Montreal welterweight Jonathan (The Road Warrior) Goulet. Swick dropped the Canadian with a short right and then threw down more than 15 hammer-fists and other blows until referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in after just 33 seconds with a dazed Goulet (22-10 with one no contest) toppling backwards from his knees.

Goulet recovered and was upright by the time the official decision was announced.

"I had an injury and my right arm wasn't where it should have been. I've got my right arm back and I'm healthy," said Swick (13-2), winning his third straight at 170 pounds since moving down from middleweight.

The two were supposed to meet in September 2007 but Swick was injured.

Military veterans on the card included former marine Luigi Fioravanti, former U.S. navy vets (Hollywood) Steve Bruno, (Crazy) Tim Credeur, and Dale Hartt, and former Navy SEAL Brandon Wolff.

The vets were 4-1 on the night.

Credeur (11-4) handed middleweight Nate Loughran (9-1) his first loss when Loughran was unable to answer the bell for the third round.

Credeur, a jiu-jitsu and judo black belt who wa

Caylee Anthony

A team of medical examiners and detectives were hustling to identify the skeletal remains of a child found in a wooded lot in central Florida Thursday, hoping to solve the six-month-old mystery of a missing toddler.

Caylee Anthony, 3, has been reported missing since July. On Thursday, less than a half-mile from where the girl lived, a utility worker stumbled upon remains of a small child.

There was nothing that immediately indicated the remains were Caylee's. But Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said his investigators and the FBI would work around the clock and through the weekend to identify the child.

"Now the investigation continues," Beary said. "There is a lot of lab work to do. There is a lot of DNA work to do. There is a lot of crime scene work to do."

Caylee's mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, was indicted in October on first-degree murder and other charges, even without a body. She has insisted that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but she didn't report her missing until July.

For the past several months, Anthony's family, police and volunteers from around the country have searched for the little girl.

A member of EquuSearch — one of the volunteer groups — said they did not check the location in early September because it was submerged in water. When they returned in November, the site had been fenced off.

EquuSearch volunteer Deborah Smith said she believes the remains belong to Caylee.

"I'm glad she was found before Christmas so they can give her a proper burial," Smith said.

Allen Moore, a spokesman for the Orange County jail, said Casey Anthony was told about the discovery. She was placed under psychological observation, not suicide watch, and remains under protective custody. Her attorney, Jose Baez, was at the jail for about 90 minutes Thursday.

Forensic experts said it was harder for investigators to identify a child's remains than an adult's, but they would have a few methods to pursue.

Medical examiners would probably look at photos of the child along with the skull, hoping to make a bone structure comparison, said Dr. Lee Jantz, coordinator of the forensic anthropology center at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Bill Manion, a pathologist and an assistant medical examiner for Burlington County, N.J., said DNA testing could determine an identification even without other DNA from the victim, "as long as we know who the parents are or siblings."

By early Thursday afternoon, dozens of reporters, police and onlookers had gathered in the pouring rain near where the remains were found. One man walked up and placed a flower-covered cross at the scene. Another man openly sobbed. An elementary school at the end of the street released students out through a back pedestrian exit, steering them away from the frantic scene.

Sheriff's spokesman Angelo Nieves said officials told Caylee's grandparents about the find, but refused to discuss whether the remains were Caylee's. But Nieves also said there were no other similar missing-children cases in the area.

The child's grandmother first called authorities in July to say she hadn't seen Caylee for a month and her daughter's car smelled like death.

Police immediately interviewed Anthony and soon said everything she told them about her daughter's whereabouts was false. The baby sitter was nonexistent and the apartment where Anthony said she had last seen Caylee had been empty for months. Anthony also lied about where she worked.

Other troubling details emerged as the case picked up national media attention: Photos surfaced of Anthony partying after her daughter went missing. Friends said she was a habitual liar, but also a good mother.

Last month, the Orange County State Attorney turned over almost 800 pages of documents showing someone used the Anthonys' home computer to do Internet searches for terms like "neck breaking" and "household weapons."

In mid-March, someone searched Google and Wikipedia for peroxide, shovels, acetone, alcohol and chloroform. Traces of chloroform, which is used to induce unconsciousness and a component of human decomposition, were found in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car during forensic testing, the documents say.

Last week, prosecutors announced they would not pursue the death penalty for Anthony. Earlier Thursday, before the remains were discovered, a judge had delayed her trial from January to March.

A spokeswoman with the state attorney's office said it would reserve comment until the investigation was complete. Messages left with Caylee Anthony's grandparents and with Casey Anthony's lawyer were not immediately returned.

The Kingfisher Calendar for 2009 brings in beauties from across the globe

It's undoubtedly the most looked forward to release each year, bringing 12 months of sheer glitz and glamour in one go. Keeping with its theme of raising a 'toast to the good times', the Kingfisher Calendar 2009 edition is set to go bigger and better. And how do we know that? Well, a preview just arrived and from first look, it's bronzed babes all the way. The calendar has been shot by ace fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar in the super exclusive Six Senses Hideaway Resorts at Koi Samui and Yao Noi in Thailand. Giving a true global appeal to the calendar, this year brings in six models from across the globe. There's Tamara Moss from Holland, Nargis Fakhri from Czech Republic, Mimi Blix who shuttles between Norway and Uganda; the Russian Katya Melnikova, Thailand's Sunisa Jongsawat and the leggy lass from India, Moni Kangana Dutta. If the line-up is big, wait till you hear what the ladies are sporting. The models slip into swimwear from some of the biggest brands in the world like Alberta Ferretti, Jean Paul Gaultier, Diane von Furstenberg with accessories from Lanvin, watches by Hamilton, eyewear by Fendi, and photographic equipment by Canon, thus making this year's calendar bigger, better and even more international!

However, only a select few in the 56 and more "Kingfisher Countries" across the world will receive a copy of this much sought-after calendar directly from the desk of the chairman of the UB Group, Dr Vijay Mallya. "I briefed Atul to work in a space that would create images that were sensual yet understated. The accent was on simplicity and working with natural elements. With Kingfisher Airlines going global the time was right to source some of the finest modeling talent worldwide for 2009," Dr Mallya states.

As for Kasbekar who has been an intrinsic part of all Kingfisher calendars, this edition has seen him make big changes too. "Given Dr Mallya's brief, the Six Senses Hideaways were the perfect locations for the 2009 edition given their amazingly simple yet luxurious properties. The images this year have been photographed for a graphic layout that has two images per page," explains the photographer. That's twice as nice!

A high school teacher kelly Ann Abdo was accused of indecent exposure and having sex with student (apparently two) and appeared in the court on Monday. She was given the trial date of 19th February 2009. The incident occurred in Monroe county.

Although there are no charges officially yet, it has been reported that Kelly was seen with a student in car, both naked, apparently having sex. If proved guilty she might be one year behind bars and have to pay a penalty of 1000$.

The car in which Kelly was witnessed naked was parked near to a house where a party was going on. With so many students around, it is highly likely that a few others also saw her there. This may spell trouble for Kelly who has been on paid administration leave since the accusations few months back. Kelly taught Mathematics and was also a Volleyball coach.

Arnold Bread is launching an online, radio and contest promotion for its Sandwich Thins and Bakery Light line of breads -- just in time for New Year's weight loss resolutions.

The online component, ArnoldiHeartBread.com, goes live on Dec. 18, and includes weekly meal plan and diet tips created by Chicago-based dietician Christine Palumbo. Consumers who submit tips on how the brand can help them achieve their weight loss goals will be entered into a contest to win "a year of wellness." This includes: a year's gym membership, monthly consultations with a certified nutritionist, workout clothes/ gear, and a year's supply of Sandwich Thins and Bakery Light bread.

The contest is tied to Arnold's campaign, "Have your bread and eat it, too," which targets carb-conscious women. Millennium Communications, Syosset, N.Y., handles web duties. DePersico Creative Group, Havertown, Pa., developed in-store and local radio promotions. There is also a heavy emphasis on point-of-sale and Catalina store couponing.

Brand manager Lisa Leszczuk said the campaign builds on favorable consumer response to Sandwich Thins, which debuted earlier this year. "Our research and sales data shows there is an obvious interest in diets every January, and consumer interaction tells us they are looking for ways to incorporate bread into a healthy lifestyle," Leszczuk said.

The NDP Group's Harry Balzer said the promotion is well timed. One thing the brand has in its favor: Bread is currently the top staple food consumed by Americans, and several of the fastest growing restaurants have built their margins on sandwich sales alone, Balzer said. "There's no question about the importance of bread. It's part of our diet in many different ways, but primarily through sandwiches," he added.
